Ian Fleming’s debut on Curated Doom, Snowblind, is a haunting exercise in sublime ambient minimalism.

"When the cold finally consumed me, it did not feel as expected. Any sense of self I may have possessed mingled with the ice, water, dirt, piss and grass, and disappeared, lost to me forever.”

Snowblind is a drone and field recording based album, with a loose narrative thread throughout (albeit one that focuses more on evocation of place through the imagination of the listener, than through any overt and obvious sound cues).

The work attempts to put the listener in a very specific space - one which is implied and described in the title of each piece - through the use of subtle field recordings, glassy drones and the metamusic created therein. It is a space which is equal parts brutal and unforgiving, yet peaceful and serene. It is an attempt to capture an eerie brightness and calm tranquility, sitting beside a terrifying sense of insignificance in the face of the immense power of nature.
